At 7th of May, we organised a second Brunch for Expat Women in Czech Science<\/strong>, which we decided to organize in cooperation with Hyb4City after increasing requests. Our invitation was accepted by Zs\u00f3fia Csajb\u00f3k, PhD<\/strong>, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University, Prague, who was a guest speaker at this event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the title implies, this event is dedicated to all postdoctoral and early-career women expat scientists across all disciplines and living in Czechia. We aimed to select an inspiring person who manages to develop a successful career path, during which she has to face challenges and overcome many obstacles associated, among others, with being a woman scientist who has chosen to pursue her scientific career abroad. She can thus be a role model for her colleagues who are at the very beginning of their own careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was an opening word from Zs\u00f3fia Csajb\u00f3k, and after we pursued in moderated debate. There was also a space for casual networking over refreshments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To guarantee a safe space, the event was not open to the public or audio-visually recorded. The whole event was held in English. <\/p>\n\n\n

Zs\u00f3fia Csajb\u00f3k<\/strong> pursued her studies in clinical and health psychology at E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Lor\u00e1nd University in Budapest before moving to Prague, where she obtained her Ph.D. in theoretical and evolutionary biology from Charles University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her research focuses on human mate choice, mate preferences, and various aspects of romantic relationship formation and rejection, all from an evolutionary perspective. As a devoted statistical analyst, Zs\u00f3fia had the chance to participate in diverse projects beyond her primary field, aiding in research on aging related cognitive decline and depressive symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University, where she also leads a significant project funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GA\u010cR). This project delves into the emotional contagion effect within romantic relationships, the longitudinal trajectories of depressive symptoms, and how parental depression affects their offspring. Beyond her academic passions, Zs\u00f3fia enjoys traveling and exploring culinary arts in her leisure time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
